Traycer + HELIOS Solution:
Building a world-class technology development effort.

Traycer Systems, Inc. - in conjunction with HELIOS - has assembled a powerful team of collaboration partners to fast-pace solution development and market adoption.

The Hyperspectral Engine Lab for Integrated Optical Systems (HELIOS) at The OSU ElectroScience Lab (ESL) received a $3.0M investment from the Ohio Third Frontier to develop systems, components, and subsystems for commercialization in Ohio. The center brings together committed end users like Raytheon, Northrup Grumman, Boeing, and Agilent. Wright Patterson Air Force Base has committed $1.3M in cost share to the center. Traycer leads commercialization efforts at HELIOS, and the ESL manages the scientific research activities.

Traycer, a spin-out of The Ohio State University, brings strong expertise in THz and a set of new devices specifically designed to solve traditional CW limitations. The Ohio State University’s Electroscience HELIOS Laboratory provides a critical early forum in which to prototype these devices in a component and application context.

Among the collaboration’s technology team are research physicists and engineers from OSU’s Center for Emerging Materials, as well as the Institute for Development and Commercialization of Advanced Sensors Technology at The University of Dayton Research Institute. These scientists represent the actual target customers for these products and will work lock-step with Traycer throughout commercialization to detail application requirements, validate prototype product capabilities, and provide hands-on, first-user feedback that will dramatically accelerate adoption by their peers.

Other partners and customers include:

  • Notre Dame University,
  • The United States Air Force,
  • Lake Shore Cryogenics, and
  • The University of Dayton Research Institute.

In short, this team and these partnerships bring together the necessary people and skill sets - technology consultants, reference-able customer representation and industry thought leaders – necessary to address the key technical and commercial challenges head on.
